Description
The DCP satellite transmitter is powered by a dedicated 12 V battery with its own solar panel and charge controller, independent of the Cimel power system. A failing DCP battery will prevent the transmitter from completing its satellite uplink schedule.
Condition(s)
Average DCP battery - flag if < 11 volts, do not include voltages < 9 volts and > 15 volts
How To Check/Test
All Models: Voltmeter
Solution Level 1 (< 5 minutes)
1. Check/reseat connections coming from DCP solar panel and charge controller.
Solution Level 2 (more involved)
1. Check charge controller for obvious damage.
2. Check power coming directly from DCP solar panel.
3. Check DCP battery with a load-tester (if possible)
Solution Level 3 (last resort)
1. Replace battery, solar panel, or charge controller.
